The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain

" In the Adventures of Tom Sawyer, the book takes a few diffferent paths. The first path has to do with Tom having fun with his friends. He, Huck, and some other boys will go out by themselves and pretend to be pirates; hiding treasure wherever they may. Another path is the conflict of the murderor, Injun Joe. Should Tom break his vow with Huck that he'll never tell anyone about who Joe really is? The final story in the book is the love interest between Tom and Becky. Like any other young kids, their relationship has its up's and down's.
This book has something for everyone whether it's murder, or adventure, or even romance. It's a timeless classic that has good reason to be on almost every reading list for students at one time or another. Everyone should read this book; NO EXCEPTIONS!!! "

The Circle of Gold by Guillaume Prevost

" In the finale of the Book of Time series, Sam follows orders from the Arkeos man who has kidnapped his wanna-be girlfriend, Alicia, to retrieve an ancient book and return it to his accomplice during the fall of Rome in 1527. Oh his way there Sam finds out that the evil Arkeos man is actually his Aunt's new boyfriend, and he discovers the secret of slowing time which allows him to get the book. Once Sam has Alicia he quickly leaves Rome and they arrive in...the future. Sam must get them back to his current time then travel to the day his mother died in the hopes of saving her and his father.
The time traveling in this book is a lot more confusing than the other two books, and even I sometimes had a hard 'time' understanding it. This book definately grasps and holds your attention, and it will probably be one you'll want to read more than once. The thing I liked most about this book is that none of it was expectable and that you were never sure what was going to happen."

The Gate of Days by Guillaume Prevost

In this second book in the Book of Time series, Sam is back on the quest for his Dad who is stuck in the time of Vlad Tepes, the model of Dracula. In order to get to that time period, fhe must find more coins that will work with the sn statue that allows him to time travel. With the help of his cousin Lilly, he travels into the Neanderthal age, eruption day of Mt. Vesuvius, and the time of the Great Depression in Chicago. All the while someone by the name of Arkeos is trying to kill him. Will Sam be able to get to the time of his father and save him? Prevost has a good sense of sarcastic humor and a good adventurous writing style which keeps you very well entertained. The concept of traveling through time can be confusing at times, so it is probably best suited for Jr. High and up. Very well written!!!

New York Minute There's Something About Roxy by Madison Oaks

"The book had a adventure on almost every page. I could not put this book down, it was so good. It showed that sisters care about each other. Even when the two sisters have very opposite personalities. I would recommend this book to a girl to read because the two main character are girls and it has a little romanance in it.

Twelve by Lauren Myracle

This is Whinnie's second year of middle school, and so far, she is dealing with it pretty well. Whinnie knows she can count on her best friend Dinah for anything. In P.E. this year, she meets another girl Cinnamon, who she soon becomes good friends with. Another big change for Whinnie is she starts hitting puberty. Her mom brings her to get her first bra, along with getting her... monthly gift. Also, she goes to her first dance at her new school as well, and has a blast. I didn't like that in this book there wasn't a lot going on, and it seemed dragged on. I think readers around the ages of 11 or 12 would like this book. Another author similar to this one is Judy Blume.

When Whinnie starts middle school, she realizes a lot of changes are about to come. Her former elementary school best friend ditches her for the "cool kids", leaving Whinnie out in the dust. She quickly finds another friend, Dinah, who sticks by her side no matter what. To help her with these troubles, she relies a lot on her big sister Sandra, who gives her advice on starting a new school. One of the biggest things Whinnie can remember at this stage in her life is to stay true to yourself, and make the best of whatever comes your way. I didn't really like the fact that this book was slow, and even it being over 200 pages, not a lot of events happened, causing it to grow boring eventually. I think anyone who is starting middle school will apprectiate this book the most. Another author that is similar to this one is Judy Blume.

Thirteen Plus One by Lauren Myracle

When Whinnie turns 14, she realizes a lot about what she wants to do this summer. This is her last year of middle school, and before she starts high school next year, she has a lot she wants to accomplish. To make sure she does everything, she creates a list. Her big sister Sandra is leaving to go to college, and before she leaves, Whinnie wants to have a deap discussion with her. Another one of her summer adventures includes returning a baby penguin back to the aquarium, after her little brother took it while visiting. Along with those, Whinnie also has to figure out what to do about her two BFF's, who haven't exactly been BFF's lately, and her boyfriend Lars. As she struggles to maintain her relationships with everyone, she realizes a lot about herself and how she looks at the world. I liked that this book was very realistic about some of the troubles the average 14-year-old might get into. I think readers around the age of 14 who can relate to this book will appreciate it the most. Another author similar to this one is Judy Blume.

Where Eagles Dare by Alistair MacLean

The instructions are clear: get in, get the general, get out. A small British commando team (and one American commando) are given the difficult task of breaking into "The Castle of the Eagles." It is located in the Alps, high in the mountains. Surrounding the castle is a German recruiting barracks and town. American General Carnaby was recently captured by these Germans. It is mandatory that he is rescued because he is one of the planners of the D-Day operation. The book is packed with suspense, cliff-hangers (literally and figuratively), explosions, gun fights, and brilliant double-crossing traitors. A very good book. Recommended for high school level reading.
