Join Emil Sinclair as he retells the journey of his childhood. During his youth, Emil is an innocent boy who attempts to play hero by fabricating a story of theft, resulting in his incipient look into the "other realm" of darkness and the sullied life. Then, Max Demian comes to his rescue. Emil meets other people, encounters new obstacles and has other experiences, until at last, he meets with others who think like him.
I enjoyed the plot of the book. It simply tells of a boy as he stuggles with growing up. There's so much that he wasn't told by his parents... Ultimately, Emil has to find blaze his own path.
I recommend this book to anyone who's read Ayn Rand, likes to read about outcasts, and blazing one's own path.
Readers may recognize Hesse as the author of other titles, such as "Siddharta" and "Steppenwolf".
