When Whinnie starts middle school, she realizes a lot of changes are about to come. Her former elementary school best friend ditches her for the "cool kids", leaving Whinnie out in the dust. She quickly finds another friend, Dinah, who sticks by her side no matter what. To help her with these troubles, she relies a lot on her big sister Sandra, who gives her advice on starting a new school. One of the biggest things Whinnie can remember at this stage in her life is to stay true to yourself, and make the best of whatever comes your way. I didn't really like the fact that this book was slow, and even it being over 200 pages, not a lot of events happened, causing it to grow boring eventually. I think anyone who is starting middle school will apprectiate this book the most. Another author that is similar to this one is Judy Blume.
