Twilight

I love to read and when I found out that Twilight won the Flume:NH Teen Readers' Choice Award for best book, I figured I should read it. The main character's name is Isabella Swan, she is a junior in high school attending Forks High School in Forks, Washington State. In Bella's school there is a family of vampires, the Cullens. This family of vampires are very unlike other vampires because they dont drink human blood. In an attempt to be good, they only hunt animals. Bella falls in love with a vampire in the family named Edward. Even though the Cullens drink animal blood, they still have that natural temptation for humans. It it very tempting for Edward to take Bella's life, because it would be so easy too. But he loves her so much he never would. Bella fully realizes the dangers of dating a vampire when her life is on the line with another vampire outside of the Cullen family. The story turns from a love story between Bella and Edward to an intense novel where the Cullens are trying to save Bella's life. At first I thought that Twilight would not be very good because vampires and fantasy do not really interest me. But once I started reading it, what I thought would be boring was just the opposite. Stephenie Meyer writes the book so beautifully that once you pick it up, it is hard to put down. I could easly visualize certain scence in the novel. She is such a creative author and did and outstanding job with her first novel. The theme of Twilight is that decisions come with challenges and possible dangers. The book shows how the power of love can overshadow things, like safety. Bella needs to decide if it is worth being in danger to be with Edward. I definitely recommend this book for people to read. I learned from this book to not judge a book by its cover, because it turned out to be a thousand times better than I thought it would be. Twilight may be a book for fantasy lovers or people who like somewhat of a dark side, but it is also a fantastic book for the rest of people out there, like me.

So he goes down to investigate so he can write an article about it later. Jeremy thought he would spend a quick week in the tiiny town but when he meets Lexie that all changes. This book is great for high schoolers. The story is continued with the book At First Sight by Nicholas Sparks which has the same characters.

Love and Other Recreational Sports by John Dearie

The story centers around a 35 year old man, named Jack Lafferty. He’s a successful banker in New York and currently finds his love life lacking. The book starts out with him falling out of bed very hung over and he is hit with the realization that his friend from college Tim is getting married. Today was just the wedding party but still it was happening. He finds this weird because his friends seem to be getting married in reverse order, the people less likely to tie the knot are going first. He himself had been close to tying the knot with a girl named Kim, but before they got the chance she ends up cheating on him. He hasn’t seen her in months now his friends are trying to set him up with anybody and everybody. Most of these dates haven’t ended well, but maybe this party will help him get his feet and meet somebody new. I would recommend this for 8th grade up, it’s very funny in a sideways sort of way.

The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

Seventeen year old Veronica (A.K.A Ronnie) Miller's parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. After three years, Ronnie remains angry and withdrawn from her parents; conspicuously her father... that’s until her mother decides it would be to everyone's benefit if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie's father, formerly a concert pianist and teacher, is living peacefully, engrossed in creating a piece of art for a local church. In one short summer Ronnie falls for a blue-collar guy named Will Blakelee, has a run in with the law, and makes a few enemies; creating an interesting, romantic, and grief-stricken summer. My personal opinion on the book: I think that it was very interesting; it had many factors that worked for it (e.g. Will being wealthy, Ronnie having been in trouble with the law, not speaking to her dad for such a long time, etc.) everything combined just made the book that much better. I would defiantly recommend the book to anyone that enjoys romance, with a little twist of grief and drama.

The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

I really enjoyed this book because I can relate to it in mnay ways. My parents got divorced when I was about 14. I also lived with my mom and rarely saw my dad. The book also got turned into a movie in late march. I thought it was really closely related to the book. I liked the book better than the movie because the movie didn't have all the details in it.
