The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri is the Pulitzer Prize-winning author's portrait of an Indian family's odyssey from tradition-bound Calcutta to a new life in Massachusetts. It follows them through the early days of their arranged marriage and the birth of their son, Gogol, whose attempt to define himself as a first-generation immigrant is strewn with conflicting loyalties, humor, and anguished relationships.

I haven't read this title yet, but the description reminds me of a young adult book I've read called, "Born Confused" by Tanuja Desai Hidier. The main character is a 17 year old girl who was born in the United States but have parents who moved here as adults from India. The story follows her struggle to discover her own identity, a balance between the two cultures.
